Most people underestimated taking care of their tattoos. Even though the a tattoo is seemingly permanent, your skin isn’t. To prevent your new tattoo from being blurred, erased or blotted. Here are some simple guidelines that would help you make sure that your beautifully drawn tattoo would always be in good aesthetic condition.

Your tattoo artist will probably give you a sheet of aftercare instructions, but just in case they are not thorough enough with you let’s go through together. After inking, your new tattoo will be applied with a type of ointment to accelerate its healing. Then, most tattoo artists will cover your tattoo with either gauze or saran wrap.Saran wrap allows the fresh wound to be completely isolated from any external contaminates. While gauze wrap is sterile but allow the fresh tattoo to “breathe” and any sort of air born contaminate could invade the fresh wound. So please take into account of this. For your information my friends and I found out that the fastest healing actually turned out the best were the ones with the saran wrap.

Leave the bandage on either 2 hours or overnight. After that, remove the bandage carefully and throw it away. Use lukewarm water and mild, liquid antibacterial or antimicrobial soap to wash your tattoo, Examples of that are Satin and Provon. The tattoo will tend to be slippery and slimy due to plasma oozing out of it. Remove most of it as gently as possible or when it dries on your skin,a lot of scabs will form

Please note that

-It is ill-advised to shower immediately after the tattoo session.Keep it dry for a few hours after you get the tattoo.

- Neosporin or any triple anti-bacterial ointment are the worst things you can use on a tattoo. For a tattoo to heal properly it has to heal from the inside out.

-Do not use lotions! They can get into the open pores of a healing tattoo, just like a cream would, and can dull out the colors of a tattoo.

-Do not use any fragrant lotions. You can ask a dozen artists and they’ll tell you dozens of different suggestions for taking care of your tattoo, but they’ll all tell you not to use lotions with fragrances.

A&D vitamin enriched ointment can be used as a replacement to soap to clean the tattoo area for the first 5 days.Use a small piece of soft clean cloth. Rub the new tattoo gently. If you prefer, you can also use specialty products such as Tattoo Goo or H2Ocean.You will be pretty much healed after 9 days.

Showering is fine as long as you don’t saturate your tattoo. If you get soap or shampoo on your tattoo, just remove it quickly with water. Swimming should be avoided for at least 2 weeks.

Some scabs will tend to appear in some portions of the tattoo. This is normal because tattooing is a form of inflicting the skin with some wounds.Use warm moist compresses to the scabs for about 5 minutes 2-3 times a day to soften them and they will eventually come off on their own.Resist scratching the skin or picking at scabs, no matter how much it itches.Slap it if it itches.Put lotion if it is peeling. It is at the stage where it is near done.

Tattoos are susceptible from the sun’s ultraviolet rays which causes fading and can damage a brilliant tattoo. You will need to protect it with the highest SPF lotion(minimum 30SPF sunblock) you can find, especially if you spend a lot of time in the sun. Reapply often and limit the amount of exposure.Sun block is a lot cheaper than touch-ups.

Let me Know if i miss out on anything. Cheers and enjoy your tattoo!
