The Western World has for some time embraced Japanese pop culture and this is why it should come as no surprise that the Japanese cherry blossom tattoo design has grown in popularity and become a symbol of its acceptance. For some, not in tune with Japanese pop culture, the image of a cherry blossom tattoo may not be quickly recognizable. Part of the reason for this is that the history and true symbolism of the cherry blossom is not well known to many people in the western world.
Cherry Blossom Tattoo Design - What Does It Mean?
The cherry blossom is an interesting design for a tattoo selection. It has become a very popular subject and has deep significance in Japanese history and culture. The cherry blossom is the national flower of Japan where it holds tremendous respect from the Japanese. The significance of the cherry blossom is that it is a symbol of peace, happiness and change. While this is a somewhat simple view of what the cherry blossom represents it clearly shows that there is also great depth of understanding on a humanistic level as it is a call for a change in the hearts of people. In other words, one should cast away the darker side of human nature and embrace and reflect on a more caring nature. The blooming of the cherry blossom only occurs during a brief and fleeting period and this fact is a further symbol that our lives are only very short and we must all make the most of the time we have on earth. Furthermore there should also be consideration and special emphasis on living a life that is pure as opposed to using our time for more selfish and abnormal purposes.
Many people select the Japanese cherry blossom tattoo for no other reason than it looks nice and, quite honestly, this is a perfectly acceptable reason for having this style of tattoo. It would however be a much nicer if the person actually understood the true origins of the symbol before having it etched on to their person. After all, surely you would want an image that is in line with your beliefs and sentiments. Then again, if you want the cherry blossom tattoo purely because you think the image looks nice then go ahead and enjoy what many before you have found to be a integral part of their body art decorations.
